mitigation, Structural Repair and Reconstruction
Water damage is deceptive. What appears on the surface is rarely the full extent of the problem.
Our Water Damage Services
Water migrates through insulation, into subfloors, behind tile, and along framing, often well beyond where the source originated.
Recon Reconstruction of Alabama specializes in the structural rebuild phase of water damage restoration, serving homeowners throughout Clanton, Chilton County, and Central Alabama.
Water damage takes many forms. Each sub-service below represents a specific type of structural water damage we repair for homeowners throughout the Clanton area. Click any service to learn more.
Water damage coverage depends on the source and nature of the loss. Sudden and accidental water events, burst pipes, appliance failures, and storm-driven intrusion, are typically covered under standard homeowner’s insurance policies.
Gradual leakage and ground flooding have different coverage considerations depending on your specific policy.
Recon Reconstruction brings over 27 years of insurance restoration experience to every water damage claim. We document the full scope of structural damage to the standards your adjuster requires, communicate directly with your carrier throughout the process, and ensure the reconstruction scope reflects what your home actually needs, not just what is visible on the surface.
We have an established working relationship with every major carrier serving Clanton and Chilton County including Alfa, Nationwide, Progressive, Farmers, Liberty Mutual and other insurance providers
Step by Step
Taking the right steps immediately after a water damage event can reduce your total loss significantly.
Call Recon Reconstruction first before you do anything else. Stop the source. If the water is still active, address the source first. Turn off the main water supply if the source is a plumbing failure. Contact your utility if the source is external or unknown.
Call your insurance company. Begin the claims process as early as possible. Document what you can safely photograph before anything is moved or disturbed.
We will perform a structural damage assessment, document the full scope of damage for your adjuster, and advise on immediate stabilization steps to prevent further loss.
Do not wait on mitigation. If standing water is present, mitigation -- extraction and drying -- needs to begin as quickly as possible. We can coordinate that phase alongside our structural assessment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Our specialty is structural restoration -- the rebuild phase after drying and mitigation are complete. We work with trusted mitigation partners in Central Alabama and coordinate that phase where needed. Once the property is dry and cleared for reconstruction, our team manages all structural and interior rebuild work.
Soft spots underfoot, flooring that moves or feels spongy, warped flooring surfaces, or flooring separating from the substrate are all signs of subfloor saturation. Our assessment identifies subfloor damage that is not visible from the surface. In many cases, the flooring above looks intact while the subfloor beneath it has been significantly compromised.
Replaced. A water-stained ceiling indicates drywall saturation. Even after the area dries, the structural paper facing of the drywall has been compromised and the gypsum core has lost integrity. Painting over a water-stained ceiling without replacement risks future failure, ongoing moisture issues, and potential mold growth behind the surface that remains invisible until it becomes a much larger problem.
Timeline depends on the scope of damage. A single room with ceiling, wall, and flooring damage may be restored in two to three weeks. A multi-room or whole-home water event with structural damage may take six to ten weeks depending on the scope of framing and subfloor work, material lead times, and insurance authorization timing. We provide a realistic timeline at the outset of every project.
Most standard homeowner's policies cover sudden and accidental water damage such as burst pipes, appliance failures, and storm-driven water intrusion. Gradual leak damage and ground flooding typically require separate coverage -- either a maintenance exclusion waiver or a separate flood insurance policy. We review the nature of the loss with you and document it appropriately for your specific coverage situation.
